The lagoon is a combination of three artificial lagoons that were created to keep 2.4 million cubic meters of treated sewage effluent coming from the Al Karaana treatment plant.

The water animals such as birds, swans, fish, frogs and others, inhibit the artificial lagoons with clean water which results in the good health of the adapted beings. It is said that the lagoon earlier received tons of industrial waste which would settle in the bottom of the lagoons and contaminated the soil.  This contaminated soil directly started harming the health of the aquatic animals living in the water. The treatment of the contaminated was conducted by heating it to 400°C, and to execute the treatment plan a mobile thermal drying unit was used.
