This is a true desert course, having been built by oil workers many years ago. You'll be given a small astro turf mat to carry around, and if your ball falls on the fairway, you'll pick it up and hit it off the mat. You take your chances off the desert sand if you're not on the fairway. Greens are actually black tar that has been flattened. If this all sounds strange, be assured that once you get used to it, it works rather nicely.
